Meet Laura.

When Ingrid, one of our Family Support Navigators with Breakthrough, reflects on her proudest moment she thinks about Laura.

Laura was a 13-year-old struggling to manage her ADHD. She was experiencing angry outbursts at home and at school, occasionally escalating to the point of being physical. She also had two siblings who did their best to avoid the chaos while her mother was consumed with managing Laura’s episodes.

Ingrid was able to arrange the therapeutic and psychiatric support that Laura needed, and she enrolled the family in Functional Family Therapy. She provided Laura’s mother with essential parenting techniques and emotional support to help her navigate challenging moments. Most importantly, Laura’s mother learned how to handle her daughter’s outbursts without getting triggered and frustrated herself, allowing her to better support Laura.

RISE Community Solutions aims to restore hope, dignity, and a sense of security, empowering individuals to build their self-sufficiency and lead fulfilling lives. Breakthrough is just one of our core programs, a robust navigation and care coordination program that partners peer support with families to offer guidance and ensure access to outpatient services and community support, reducing re-hospitalizations and increasing stability for youth and their families. Breakthrough served 59 youth in Orange County last year.

Ingrid provided resources that empowered Laura and her mother to handle situations independently. Laura’s outbursts and school incidents were reduced, and her mother was able to spend more time with all three of her children.

Her story is a testament to how your support can create lasting change. We cannot continue to STRENGTHEN families without you.

Thank you for helping us RISE together!
