Naomi wasn’t sure where to begin.
A recent Sociology graduate, she was passionate about enacting long-term change.
She found what she was looking for in Public Allies Central Florida, an AmeriCorps program dedicated to leadership and social justice. Public Allies’ mission of creating an equitable society deeply resonated with Naomi, and she was selected for a 10-month apprenticeship during the 2022-23 program year.
During her apprenticeship, Naomi piloted a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program to address disparities faced by children and families of color in the child welfare system. She led focus groups, conducted staff surveys, collected data, and presented her findings to the entire agency.
Her work was groundbreaking, and it was just the beginning of her journey.
RISE Community Solutions aims to restore hope, dignity, and a sense of security, empowering individuals to build their self-sufficiency and lead fulfilling lives. Public Allies Central Florida is just one of our core programs, training emerging leaders to become values-based professionals that focus on a just and equitable society for all. 16 Allies graduated in 2022-2023.
Public Allies Central Florida provided Naomi with invaluable opportunities, allowing her to lead initiatives and pave her way as a young woman of color. She went on to complete a prestigious DEI internship in Washinton, D.C., and ultimately secured her dream job as a Policy and Research Associate at the African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs.
Her story is a testament to the life-changing impact of your support. We cannot INSPIRE the next generation of leaders without you.
Thank you for helping us RISE together!
