Your Kids Are Online. Are You Ready for What's Out There?

Most of us didn't grow up with the internet the way our kids are growing up with it - and that gap can feel overwhelming. You want to protect your child, but you're not sure what to look for, what to say, or how to even start the conversation.

You're not alone in that.

On April 17th, RISE Community Solutions hosted Behind the Screen: Protecting Youth in a Digital World - a community training for caregivers, nonprofit professionals, and community members. Our speakers walked attendees through the realities of online grooming and digital exploitation, the legal landscape, how to recognize warning signs, and how to respond if a child comes to you with a disclosure. Because how you respond in that moment matters.

We're sharing the Digital Safety Toolbox from that training here, because every caregiver, professional, and community member deserves access to this information. Inside, you'll find practical guides on the warning signs of unsafe online relationships, age-appropriate ways to start conversations with your kids, what to say (and what not to say!) when a child opens up, and resources for reporting and support.

You don't have to be a tech expert to keep your child safer online. You just have to know what to look for - and know that you have backup.
